Volunteering Opportunities

volunteer for English study buddies (ESB)

English Study Buddies’ (ESB) mission is to provide a positive community where the youth in the Chinatown (Manhattan) neighborhood can receive extra academic help during after-school hours and Saturday mornings. It is a free program which offers young adolescents individual attention and motivation to learn. Students can foster a trusting relationship with a mature adult and build up confidence to converse in English more proficiently.

Tutors are needed for immigrant students for one-on-one English tutoring. Some Chinese (spoken) is helpful but not necessary. If you are willing to commit 2 hours every Saturday to help a child with their English language skills and be a mentor to them, this is for you. We will provide the training and resources/materials for the students. To apply, email the program director, Ray.

On Saturdays from 8:30 am to 11 am, join us in volunteering at the Father’s Heart Ministries (545 E 11th St)! We spend the morning preparing and serving breakfast to the homeless of the East Village. The Father’s Heart is especially in need of Chinese speaking volunteers who can help translate for the locals. If you have any questions, feel free to email us!
